Happy fall, y'all!
As the leaves continue their slow cascade into a colorful carpet, I wanted to share some good news with everyone!
First, three of our wonderful Chamber members have exciting charity services coming up soon! All of their information can be found in the first three community updates in the following newsletter. Be sure to help them as they embark on these journeys, and-more importantly-help their various charitable acts! From supplying funding for breast cancer treatments, helping families welcome new members through adoption, and continued support for affordable housing initiatives.
Secondly, get ready for parade season! Just this morning myself and our admin Steven were able to talk to the Mayor of Midway John Byrum, Chief Craft of Midway Fire Department, Sheriff Simmons, Captain Stillwell, and Blake Lanning with Emergency Medical Services to get a better plan of staging areas and road closures. So, while we handle back end logistics, I need all of you to consider joining me as Day-Of Volunteers to help make sure we have as amazing of a spread of participants as we did last year! We plan to be even more coordinated on that front as well this year with more high-vis vests, and Chamber owned walkie talkies. So it will be a breeze! Our volunteers from last year enjoyed helping out so much that they told me they wanted to join again this year after the last float left staging. I promise, it really isn't too much work. If this seems feasible for you, and you want an early access preview of the floats in the parade this year, please sign up HERE!
Thirdly, our education outreach initiative is fully underway! Midway Screen Printing will begin printing out our valued bus drivers' new sweatshirts on Monday! Keep an eye out for some sneak peak footage on our Facebook! We still need help with the disbursement of these items, and would be pleased to have you join us when we hand deliver them! Sign up for that is found HERE! Date of disbursement is still not set but we will update anyone who signs up early to make sure you can attend!
Lastly, we are now in the TENTH month of the year. I know, I know, deep breaths. The year has seemingly flown by in the last few months. However, it is also almost party time! So, please start planning on what you will be able to donate for our silent and/or live auction items this year as we use funds to help our local elementary schools reduce their outstanding lunch debt. Please reach out to northdavidsoncc@gmail.com with all donation updates.
I know this is a lot of updates to take in and digest. I implore you all to explore what volunteer opportunities will best serve you as we continue to be a great resource for our community. As always, I will see you all at the next chamber meeting set for October 21st!
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
